My work examines the impact of global change on non-forested ecosystems in Africa. I am particularly interested in understanding the mechanisms that shape plant distribution ranges and how they are changing. I am also interested in understanding the impacts of woody encroachment on biodiversity and ecosystem services.
In the environmental systems in which I work, regional changes in land management often override any changes caused by climate change, making land management a crucial process to understand to safeguard nature.
